Water alone assists in the growth of unwanted factors (and renders preservation necessary), but when water sodium chloride are combined in a formula together as saline, it works by reducing the water activity in our product. Given that The Honey Mud is primarily clay-based, the addition of salinated water forms a kind of gel, consisting of a nano-network of clay particles that is inhospitable to the growth of unwanted organisms.
